Stanford is currently recruiting for a Senior Human Resources Manager to support two critical divisions of Residential and Dining Enterprises(R&DE) – Student Housing and the Finance & Administration organizations.  This role serves as a strategic human resources advisor for the senior leadership teams in each client group.

 

The Senior Human Resources Manager must effectively lead a team of three human resources professionals in the areas of: Employee Relations, Workforce Planning/ Recruitment, Performance Management, Workers Compensation, Disability and Leave Management, HR Administration.

 

Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, the Senior Human Resources Manager is responsible for the full range of Human Resources services to Executives, Supervisors, Administrative Staff and Bargaining Unit employees in R&DE. 

 

 

This position is responsible for the administration and management of a full range of human resources functions including employee and labor relations investigations and case management, hiring and selection, reclassification reviews, performance management, coaching and leadership development, disability and leave management with an emphasis on ADA accommodation and return to work reviews. The position is one of three Human Resources Managers supporting the R&DE organization and works closely with their client group.

Qualifications

·         BA/BS required; with degree in Human Resources or Business Administration a plus.

·         8-10 years of progressive senior HR management experience required. 

·         Manage the performance of direct reports. Set team objectives, priorities, and resources to align with department objectives. Participate in and/or lead human resources-wide and university human resources projects/initiatives, as needed.

·         Strong professional background in the investigation of complex employee relations issues.  Superior critical and analytical skills with knowledge of federal, state and local employment/ labor law required.

·         Oversee processes for workers’ compensation, disability, leave, work place accommodation requests, and health and safety issues; inform managers as needed.

·         Design and lead strategies for facilitating organizational and behavioral change.  Organizational effectiveness and leadership coaching experience a plus.

·         Solid experience working in a unionized environment required. Experience in an academic environment or comparable setting with background in business operations or hospitality/retail services strongly preferred.

·         Demonstrated ability to collaborate with the organization’s management and senior leadership in defining initiatives by having an excellent understanding of the organization’s objectives, issues, needs, to align business activities to organizational goals.  Must work effectively in an ambiguous and politically sensitive environment.

·         Directs talent management program (recruitment and staffing plans and retention), and provide effective recruitment methods for assigned areas

·         Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.  Must have excellent presentation skills. 

·         Excellent self-management skills with the ability to work independently, shows initiative and makes good decisions that affect positive outcomes. Demonstrates resilience at adjusting to changing situations, overcomes obstacles and effectively resolves issues

·         Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PeopleSoft, and ReportMart applications
