JOB PURPOSE:


Under general supervision, compose material for print, web, and other platforms.

CORE DUTIES*:
•Perform various exploratory, information gathering and research functions to obtain factual information for written publication/communication.
•Compose written material for diverse audiences, across a variety of channels.
•Compile supplemental materials (i.e., images, video links, spreadsheets, biographies, executive talking points and other written materials) that support written communication.
•Explore, develop, and maintain collaborative relationships with media, community organizations, and other targeted audiences.
•Maintain department style standards.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•Proven success in writing for publication in print, web, and other platforms.

•Excellent writing, interpersonal, and oral communication skills with proven ability to present, write, edit, and organize thoughts in a clear, concise, and well-organized manner.

•Professional demeanor and ability to deal with a variety of personalities.

•Thorough command of the English language and grammar.

•Firm understanding of web technologies and applications, including social networking, social media tools, and current communication trends.

•Ability to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines.

•Excellent time management skills.

•Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Certifications and Licenses:

None

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

•Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.

•Frequently stand/walk, sit, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, and use a telephone, writing by hand.

•Occasionally reach/work above shoulders, grasp forcefully, and sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

•Visual and auditory acuity, including color vision required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

•Occasional work on evenings and weekends.

•Occasional travel.
