The successfulcandidate will be inquisitive and creative in the investigation andexperimentation of emerging technologies that will advance our ability toacquire and deliver content that supports evolving models of scholarship andresearch.
The Payments unit processes all payments forresources purchased worldwide for SUL’s collection. The Ordering and FiscalLibrarian takes a lead role in monitoring and ensuring security, integrity andfinancial accountability for current Payment systems and effectively respondsto the continual changes in fiscal systems, codes and regulations. As globalfinancial systems evolve, critical thinking for process improvement within thePayments unit is essential to this position.
As the primary liaison between theAcquisitions Department and the Collections program, the Ordering and FiscalLibrarian nurtures a culture of communication and collaboration in support ofSUL’s collecting efforts. This position requires a high level of engagement inother SUL inter-departmental endeavors where it is expected that theincumbent’s leadership, expertise, judgment, and analysis will contribute tosuccessful outcomes.
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Qualifications include an MLS/MLIS or theequivalent, a strong interest in providing leadership in an organization thatvalues creativity as part of continuous change, demonstrated supervisoryexperience, the ability to motivate staff in a dynamic, fast-paced environment,and at least 3 years of experience working in an acquisitions department (3P2level) or 7 years (to qualify for the 3P3 level). Must have working familiaritywith Collection Development policies and practices, a strong commitment tocollaboration, quality service and innovation, and advanced skills in MS Word,Access and Excel. Proficiency using an integrated library system (Sirsi/DynixSymphony preferred), particularly the Acquisitions, Payments, and Reportsmodules are necessary, as are excellent communication, organization, problemsolving and time management skills.
Experience working in an academic library, workingknowledge of MARC and other metadata standards and Library of Congressclassification system, and a basic understanding of licensing and copyrightissues are preferred, as are knowledge of GAAP and experience in projectmanagement.
