Summary:
As part of Academic Technology Services (ATS), the Senior Instructional Designer is responsible for identifying and developing instructional strategies, instructional software, and technology devices that support the advancement of teaching and learning at the Graduate School of Business. ATS teams include: Instructional Design and Technology, Research Computing, and Classroom Technology and Media Support Services.

The Senior Instructional Designer works closely with faculty, program managers, SMEs, campus community partners, and vendors to enhance pedagogy and facilitate instructional technology use. Audiences include the GSB community, in addition to global markets through various GSB channels (i.e., Global Innovation Programs, Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies (SEED), Executive Education).

Consultations with clients are grounded in instructional design theory, models, and best practices. The Senior Instructional Designer possesses professional expertise and experience using Web, eLearning authoring tools, and video editing packages to create impactful courses with effective assets. The Senior Instructional Designer demonstrates leadership in supporting and developing a collaborative team, while enhancing individual team members’ skills through mentor-ship and coaching.

Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Instructional Designer provides instructional design consultation and instructional asset development for academic credit and non-academic credit courses and programs. The Senior Instructional Designer is capable of leading and executing each stage of the ADDIE model for face-to-face, blended/hybrid, and fully online programs.

The Senior Instructional Designer helps establish the strategy, policy, and procedures for communicating and implementing ATS services. These services include, professional development and training events, course development, course evaluation, and course redesign. As external partners and vendors are necessary, the Senior Instructional Designer helps identify, establish, and manage these partners.

In the capacity as project manager, the Senior Instructional Designer will be responsible for executing project scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation and communications to ensure delivery of the business solution within scope, timeline, and budget. Additional responsibilities include the design and delivery of pedagogy and technology focused development opportunities for faculty, staff, and students. Position requires some evening and weekend work.

Qualifications:
• A degree (Masters or PhD preferred) in Instructional Systems Technology, Instructional Design, Education Technology, or related field desired
• Three or more years of professional experience as an Instructional Designer in higher education or similar environment
• Expertise in developing instructional design strategies, policies, and procedures
• Expertise in developing, evaluating, and redesigning face-to-face, fully online, and hybrid/blended courses
• Expertise with one or more eLearning authoring tool (e.g., Camtasia, Captivate, Lectora, Softchalk, Articulate)
• Expertise with one or more learning management system, including MOOC platforms
• Experience leading and mentoring teams
• Experience with web and interactive/simulation development
• Experience evaluating and managing vendors
• Evaluation and application of social networking, online collaborative tools, and mobile solutions for instruction
• Teaching or training experience (online preferred)
