SENIOR DRUPAL/PHP WEB DEVELOPER HighWire Press, Stanford University Libraries
BACKGROUND: HighWire Press, a department of Stanford University Library, hosts high-impact scholarly journals and other scholarly content on the Web, primarily for not-for-profit societies and publishers. We have an opening for a Senior Drupal/PHP Web Developer to work as part of the existing development staff. This is a full time permanent position.
JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for the technical design and construction of components of our web technology application including those specifically designed for publishers to manage their web sites.
Our platform is primarily Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP/Perl/Python (LAMP). A solid knowledge of PHP and associated libraries and tools is essential. A good working knowledge of Unix shell, database design and Apache web server configuration is also important. Job responsibilities include working as part of a team to configure and extend Drupal by the development of PHP based Drupal modules. This position will also include the development of both server side (Drupal/PHP) and client side (Javascript, XHTML, CSS, Flex, etc.) software.
The ability to quickly prototype and work directly with our publication management group to refine requirements is a must.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS: * Extensive Drupal experience including custom module and theme development. * PHP development experience. * Knowledge of browser side web markup and scripting languages including: Javascript, XHTML, CSS. * Understanding of dynamic or active web content and the use of XML based technologies including XSLT. * Five to 7 Years years related work experience is required, including production development of public websites. * Testing software applications on a broad range of browsers and browser versions as part of the application development process as well as when troubleshooting problems experienced by end users.
This position is double posted at the 4P3 and 4P4 levels. Consideration for the 4P4 level will be given to applicants with 7 or more years of Drupal development experience.
