This
individual supports the coordinator of the Psychology One Program in all
administrative aspects of a large course and teaching program. The position
requires excellent organizational and communication skills, attention to detail,
a willingness to help, and a positive attitude at all
times.
Responsibilities include: • Scheduling and maintaining
quarterly calendar of speakers and activities • Helping to schedule and plan
events for the Psychology One teaching team, as well as for a small, but
national-scale, annual teaching conference • Interacting with undergraduate
students to help them meet course requirements, including working with the
Office of Accessible Education and answering students’ questions about course
requirements • Interacting with teaching assistants to support the logistics
of course sections • Interacting with faculty and program coordinator to
support the logistics of lectures, including preparing the classroom for each
lecture • Communicating with students, teaching assistants, and faculty in
person and via email in a concise and friendly manner • Carefully reviewing
(proofreading and providing feedback) course materials and teaching training
materials. • Managing a grades database using Excel and Stanford’s Axess •
Maintaining a class website using Stanford’s Coursework • Monitoring student
experiment participation using SONA and Excel • Preparing exams (proofreading
and photocopying), scanning multiple choice exams using scantron machine,
compiling results in Excel, and organizing the return of graded exams to
students • Scheduling and proctoring make-up exams • Regular photocopying
and document shredding • Purchasing supplies and processing reimbursements
for program expenses • Other general administrative support to
coordinator
Qualifications: Excellent time management and the ability to
set priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced
environment. Strict attention to detail and ability to perform reliably
error-free work. High proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Email,
WWW, and the ability to adapt quickly to other computer applications (i.e.,
Coursework, Axess). Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication
skills. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. Good
judgment and sensitivity to confidential information. High energy level,
enthusiasm, sense of humor, and flexibility. Honesty, positive attitude, and
willingness to help a must. Knowledge of Stanford University and an interest in
teaching and learning is helpful.
